Smoked Salmon Bagels
Talk about a nutrient-packed breakfast to start the day off right! This simple smoked salmon bagel recipe elevates breakfast to another level. Not only is it full of healthy ingredients like mini whole-wheat bagels and smoked salmon, but it comes together in a flash.
For those of you who don’t know me already – I am NOT a morning person. I don’t want to do anything before I’ve had at least one cup of coffee, and even then whipping up a healthy and tasty breakfast can be a struggle. Combine that with a busy workday and all I want is a quick and easy recipe like this one that will keep me full until lunch. Protein, healthy fats, and whole grain goodness? Count me in!
I’m not always a huge fan of smoked salmon, but this specific combination of flavors really does the trick for me. It can be a bit pricey too – but for this one, I actually found smoked salmon at Aldi that was only a few dollars, and the perfect amount for two people.
Needless to say this will be a new regular in our house! Especially because we are not usually huge salmon people (but we try to eat it anyway because it has so many health benefits).
Smoked Salmon Bagels are easy to customize!
Customize these bagels any way you’d like. I personally really enjoyed the smokiness of the salmon combined with the saltiness of the capers, creaminess of the cream cheese, tang of the lemon, and crunch of the bagel and red onions. But if any of these aren’t your thing, feel free to omit. I also used arugula for garnish, but ended up adding more to top my bagels as I ate, because it added a really nice complexity to the flavor as well.
